TOPSHOP MAKE UP FEATURED IN ELLE. MAY 2010

OOH! I'm excited, is it sad that i'm this obsessed with Topshop? yes, i guess so. But who cares if i secretly want Philip Green to adopt me? As i have said countless times, when all else fails i can simply always find something to wear in Topshop, always. Some people strop that it's expensive, and my books, honey it's reasonable price to pay! avec student discount ;). Quality, is a key factor with Topshop clothing, i've had many jumpers and coats that i bought a few years ago and i still wear them, plus Topshop is one of the only high street stores i don't have to faff around with sizing.
A size 10 is a size 10.

However, will all these qualities translate to it's very own make up line? When i think of high-street store embarking on their own cosmetic line, i cringe.

Chalky eye shadows, lipsticks that are practically all the same, pearly pink colour, a naff design with most products having an strong chemical scent white washed with cheap perfurme.. lovely! Yet, somehow i have an inkling that Topshop won't disappoint, taking on Kate Moss and designers such as Christopher Kane, they diddn't do by halves, so why should they this? I guess only time will tell.

But time will be the only thing to tell, because this launch is very hush hushed. Whilst at Hair Mag, we can log onto an online site called Beauty Directory which acts as a phone list for every PR and details PR events, as such the Topshop Launch was listed a few months back. After that, i expected leaked photos everywhere, but nada. According to British Beauty Blogger (check her out on the asap) strict confideality was in place, because of course, a deal with a leading fashion magazine had already been set in place and for a fair few ££, this was neatly held under wraps..

until the May issue of Elle landed on my door- step..

(click for larger scans, although i do advice anyone to purchase the latest issue of Elle, of course)

Unfortunately, this feature is a bit of a tease without going into full on details. Elle caught up with Hannah Murray, make - up artist, to chat about her new collaboration with Topshop. Basically she didn't give much away - boo! but other online sources (leaks) which has subsequently vanished (sued more like) hinted at 34 piece set with a special seasoned collections, sold both online and in-store.. if memory serves me right!

Grazia has mentioned that the release date with be within May, and most products were demonstrated on the Topshop Woodland A/W 2011 LFW show, if you want a sneak peak!

What are your thoughts? I feel there's going be an almighty stampede for this and i certainty can wait to see if it lives up to my fan-crazy thoughts of Topshop.

MARKS & SPARKS

i don't care what you say, i love good old marks & sparks!

Limited Collection Floral Lace Dress (£49.50)

i heart this dress, except in real life its grey and not lilac, boo!
i don't want to look like a pair of dirty net curtains, i'l have to suss what its really about in store.

but hell, i had to post this, as it made me feel all springish and summery, yeah!

Swinging 60's!

Lisa Eldridge is a highly regarded make up artist in the industry, having created looks for many magazine spreads such as Glamour and Vogue, catwalk looks and has appeared on Channel 4's Ten Years Younger. I have notably been following her work since she made over my own mother, since then i have been glued to her You Tube channel where she gives amazing make up tips and advice, as well as showing how to re-create looks.

One of my favourite looks ever! is this model in a Glamour magazine shoot. I adore the 60's blow dry, full volume hair style with barrel curl flicks. Mostly i envy the smokey eyes complete with long lashes and the pouty coral lips! If i only i could pull this off everyday (and have thick, tamed brows - boo!). So imagine my delight when Lisa posted a video on how to achieve this fabulous look..

I'm so tempted to purchase the Ilamasqua lipstick in Obey, although i am notoriously bad at buying lipstick after lipstick and leaving them lying at the bottom of my make up box, choosing to pick up my trusty nude Mac and Benefit lipglosses.

However, this is very tempting - its such a beautiful summery colour! I think I'll have to raid my nearest counter for a full on trying session, or see if there's a cheaper dupe available. I have been patiently waiting for my next student loan to come through - so i can have discover the wonderful world of Inglot at Westfield.

What are your thoughts?

SHE GOT STYLE

i have some fabulous news, and i thought i would share!
Within my degree, i have many guest lectures that are a variety of well known publishers, editors and designers that come into give an insight to the publishing world. Recently, to my delight, the darling Lisa Smosarski, editor of STYLIST magazine came in to class and had a chat. Lisa revealed the secrets behind launching a new magazine in the market, a magazine that stands apart from your Grazia's and Look's; as well as a publishing a magazine that soley only receives revenue from advertising because it's given away for free? Did you know, that however successful STYLIST is, fashion house Chanel will never advertise within the magazine because it's given away free? To be that fabulous aye!
So after the lecture, i had a quick chat with Lisa, to which she presented moi with her business card.. so to which leads me to my good news...
i have a placement at STYLIST for a whole month in August!
seriously, i cannot word how excited i truly am! i cannot wait to get stuck in, with the added promise of writing content for the September and October issues. If you haven't heard of STYLIST magazine, where have you been hiding? well chances are probably not in the city! Stylist magazine is a free, women's fashion weekly, handed out in cities such as London, Manchester ect ect.

Stylist, amazingly entered the women's magazine market with a fresh take on fashion and style, with a mix of news, top picks and fashion spreads. The design and style of the magazine is effortlessly chic and stylish. Choosing beautiful yet striking cover images, whether that a Mulberry bag or Angelina Jolie, it was sure to pull a great interest of the women of London, instead of the usual paparazzi shot of any B-List celeb. The magazine also offers well written features, boasting news, travel, events, fashion, beauty, art, film, food with interesting interviews. Seriously, could it get any better, a free magazine offering women everything they want/need to know, perfect.

Mole Skin Note Book - Water Stones (£13.00) seriously, this may sound expensive, but as the sales assistant in Water Stones screamed at me..

'..once you go Mole Skin you don't go back honey!'

and you know what, she was right.

this perfume is like crack, no lie. i snapped this Juicy perfume on ASOS on a special offer and i have been spritzing so much of this, i might as well be bathing in it! I love the smell of this, it's so different and unquie, yet quite strong which i love. don't you just hate it when the smells wears off during the day?

Juicy Couture Couture - ASOS (purchased 50ml for £35.00!)

and of course! i managed to get my little hands on this as soon as it came out. i LOVE the neutral colours of peaches, creams, browns and golds! and yes, everyone should own a bottle of Urban Decay eyeshadow primer..

for all those readers living under a rock for the past month - this limited edition Urban Decay set was released in sync with the new Alice in Wonderland film. 14 March 2010

i'll do graffiti for you if you sing to me in french.

After abandoning much needed to be completed university work, i decided i would come post my happiness. Cut a long story short, took the Mother and the Grandmother to Croydon for lunch, aka basically a chance for my Grandmother to raid LUSH. With a purse full of vouchers and a list in tow, up we went. I can guarantee we spent a good two hours giving absolutely everything a sniff, with my nose borderline immune to any more whiffs of mint or bubblegum, we left with some much loved goodies. (To be honest, my nan should start her own Lush haul blogs, mate! get her own YouTube channel i say!)

Heres the Mother and the Grandmother.. went for noodles nom nom.

I also managed to raid a few shops, considering last month i was broke (i'm never broke, you know, but you just feel like you have no money to waste?) I have been very good this month, poor WHSmiths probaly diddnt know what hit them - a dip in magazine sales?!

But heaven forbid, i'm back. But pur-lease, get your pretty little fingers on the latest issue of Marie Claire, with the beautiful Diane Kruger (girl crush much?) but it also comes with a Neil's Yard moistriser, which does smell a bit funky but its au natural goodness and the fact it comes free is worth buying the mag.

Anyway, cut the crap! Heres what i found..

oh yes. the heart printed playsuit that sold out.. mine mine mine.

playsuit - Topshop (£50.00 w/student discount £45.00)

I needed a nude skirt, this little beauty actually goes with everything in my wardrobe.

floral blouse - Topshop (last season)
nude skirt - New Look (£16.00)
spotted tights - New Look (£4.00) BARGAIN!

lets excuse my chair full uni work, who says uni is a doss you middle aged bastards - who diddn't pay any fucking fees!

I have neglected the entire fashion week, but never fear my critical little eye and blogging will be back soon. Just let me finish a very boring, no very, very boring finance report, i deteste Excel. I did buy a few beauty bits and of course my Lush goodies, however i wanna to trail them first ;)

Photo of the Day

Naomi hit me.. and i loved it.

11 March 2010

anyone who thinks they can do it any better, step right back and take that!

I was justing reading une tasse's blog and discovered that these were her favorite pair of pumps too! I seriously recommend them! They are ballerina pink flats and are perfect, i lived (and worn out) my pair all last summer. I have them in both nude and black, they are so comfy- however do not wear in the rain because alas, like ballet shoes, they have no real sole. But for £16, you shouldn't care. Where you ask? Topshop, of course!

the photo, if your wondering, was taken at The Natural History Museum, London.

The Transformation of LC's braid

Lauren Conrad has been wearing her signature plait twist since like forever? From two neat twists to plaits here, there and every where; this trend quickly caught on, both in London and over the pond. I myself have been wearing a centre parting for months - which i haven't done so since i was like 8 years old? With her masses of barrel curls, cute braids, Chanel bags galore and cute blazers, LC has steadily risen in my style stakes.

When she appeared on The Hills, even Laguna Beach, i envied her Californian tan and blonde locks (and Jason, nom nom). She always looks primmed to perfection, without a hair out of place. All i need to do, is too attempt her signature eyeliner flick!

LC > Spedi!

the messy french plait.

french plait pulled into a low bun

messy updo with small braids

the original twist plait

I raided H&M for some much needed basics.. clearly stealing some LC style!

the h&m version of those American Apparel tees
perfect for summer - with denim shorts or a fitted blazer

the perfect little bargain! this pop of colour is really summery, can't wait to wear this.

LC inspired outfit

worn with some sky scraper nude heels & black fitted Zara blazer

an old Marc B quilted bag (yes, my rip orf Chanel)
i bought this a good four years ago!
before they were everywhere..

je m'appelle Sarah

i picked up this pretty little vest too, from H&M's new Garden Collection.

(i think its time to whip out the fake tan again, ladies!)

The Oscars!

As i write this, many Hollywood stars are already partying in celebration of the Oscars! Of course, one day i will attend the Oscars but in the mean time, instead being pampered by the world's best make up artists and changing into my vintage Chanel gown, I'm perfectly happy to gaze upon the red carpet beautiful triumphs and catastrophes - hello Bjork in the swan suit?

I've delved in the Oscar red carpet achieves and i digged out my favourite looks..

So rooting for her win Best Actress for her role in An Education!
